It MUST have a ball-bearing


Ball-bearings reduce friction. Some cheaper fan models uses bushing instead of ball-bearings. Remove the sticker label at the rear of the fan and see if you could find a ball-bearing.

In general a Ball-bearing is made of steel and a bush is made of brass (or copper). So if you find a silver ring its Ball-bearing. If you find a brass coloured (or copper coloured ring) its a bush.
